Ucigasa - World Of Warcraft

World of Warcraft and the video marketplace

Initially, it looked immature – almost a prank. Prior to the release of Mists of Pandaria, the fourth expansion for World of Warcraft, many players shared the fear that the inclusion of the Pandaren race of humanlike kung-fu pandas represented one dumbing-down too far for this beloved world. It seemed to show a cartoonish brush off for the warmongering history of the eternal feuds between the Alliance, the Horde and whatsoever imposing faction each expansion entered.

Although the storyline overall may be more self-assured, wherever this new expansion catches a heel on the catwalk is in the laborious nature of that storytelling. Frustratingly, the way your objectives unfold in the continent Pandaria as you advance towards the new level cap of 90 is an evolutionary regression for a game that has learned in recent years to shower its audience in a delicious river of experience opportunities.

The Asian-themed landscape of Pandaria at the start seems repetitive too, until the recommencement of flying at level 90 also brings it to life. This is a continent designed to be viewed from above: the grandeur of the striding Great Wall, the imperial stone guardians and the multi-coloured patchwork paddy fields of the farm- lands.

In these early quests, senseis flit around the scene under the power of animal spirits, players leap across slim poles to ring resonant gongs and aspiring warriors battle to unleash elemental spirits from the caverns deep underground. At the finale of this tightly-tuned initiation, a balloon ride over the island puts the splendour of the artwork and lore on a magnificent pedestal – in a manner that’s far more artfully achieved than in the high-end levelling.

The videos of video games cutscene. It’s sort of a hot topic amidst hardcore gamers. “Why are the cutscenes so long?” “I can’t skip this crap? Are you bantering me?!” “What is this, a motion picture?”

The list of bellyaches can go on and on, but whether you love or hate them, most games these days will have these cinematics or in-game movies to some extent. A cutscene is simply a sequence in which the player has little or no control over the game. It usually breaks gameplay action for the intention of advancing the plot, presenting character growth, and providing things like background fact, dialogue, clues, and ambience.

WOW has touched perfection in aspects of its previous expansions: the artwork and themes of Wrath of the Lich King, the freedom of questing opportunities in Cataclysm and the hard-won dungeon progress that gave The Burning Crusade its brutal but rewarding pace. It’s yet, however, to bring all of these moments together into one glorious whole – and in the max-level heroic dungeons of Pandaria, the game still struggles to find its Goldilocks moment between adversity and accessibility.

Pandaria’s greatest endgame achievement takes place behind the scenes, however. Previous expansions have been blighted by the length of queues for dungeons for those filling damage roles – but now, at level 90, you can queue for both a scenario and a dungeon at the same time. The scenario will almost certainly become available first but, once entered, your dungeon queue continues to tick away in the background. Whatever matchmaking magic is happening to ensure that these two pools of players come together just as a scenario concludes works exceptionally well, and you’ll barely have a moment’s pause between group adventures.

In spite of its successes, though, Pandaria doesn’t quite feel like the finished product – and it still clings doggedly to questing crutches that the likes of Guild Wars 2 have begun, gleefully, to kick away. The true impact of that now-archaic questing experience, so fractured on the long road to level 90, won’t likely be apparent until players take a second character through the journey. Thankfully there are treasures in abundance at the end of that often frustrating adventure – even if most of it lacks the fiendish fever to accompany the fun.

The New Worgen Race in World of Warcraft

The New Worgen Race in World of Warcraft

From the depths of every World of Warcraft player’s most avid fantasies, the Worgen race is being added to the game when the new expansion, Cataclysm launches in 2010. The new race – which will be based in Gilneas – is essentially a race of docile werewolves who have been cursed. They can switch between their two forms and will have a variety of different racial abilities that are already being hailed as the most interesting and entertaining racials in the game.

Worgen Classes

The Worgen race will be able to play as any of 8 initial classes, including everything except the Paladin or Shaman. The full list of playable classes includes:

  • Death Knight
  • Druid
  • Hunter
  • Mage
  • Priest
  • Rogue
  • Warlock
  • Warrior

Additionally, Worgens will have fully customizable facial models, fur, and hair color. More humanized than many previous Worgen models that were introduced to the game in Wrath of the Lich King, the playable Worgens will be a more sympathetic race – due largely to their curse and their hunting by the Forsaken in the nearby Silverpine Forest zone.

The New Goblin Race in World of Warcraft

The New Goblin Race in World of Warcraft

When Cataclysm launches in 2010, the Horde will be gaining their very own shorter than average class of crafty, intelligent creatures in the form of the Goblins. The shift from a largely neutral race that has been in the game from day one as a group of traveling merchants to a more active, combat oriented race has many players eager to learn about the lore behind the Goblins joining the Horde.

What ultimately pushes the Goblins into the arms of the Horde is the upheaval of their island homes by the return of Deathwing and the Cataclysmic events that force them to the Lost Isles. While the playable Goblins will only represent one faction of the race (other Goblins will remain in cities like Gadgetzan), they will not be the same, little green guys everyone knows and loves.

The Classes

The Goblin race will start the game with access to eight classes, including all but the Druid and the Paladin. The complete list of available classes includes:

  • Death Knight
  • Hunter
  • Mage
  • Priest
  • Rogue
  • Shaman
  • Warlock
  • Warrior

Additionally, Blizzard has confirmed that they are going to be going out of their way to revamp and beef up character models for Goblins so they look a bit more personalized and menacing in combat than current models do.

Essential Strategies to Make Yourself an Elite Raider

Essential Strategies to Make Yourself an Elite Raider

Raiding in World of Warcraft is a rite of passage. It takes hours upon hours of practice, dedicated focus on the part of you and your guild, and a very keen eye for the right gear, consumables, and strategies. But, those that master these steps soon rise to the echelon of their servers, drawing accolades from their fellow players in droves. But, how do you get to that pinnacle of raiding perfection? It starts with proper preparation and careful strategy.

The Right Group

Step one to any raiding strategy is finding a good group of people to go raiding with. When you go on a raid, you are with 10 or 25 people. This means that you are only a small part of a much larger whole. It is important to find players who are good at playing those individual roles and who are willing to take orders and learn along with everyone else. If you are starting your own guild, find four or five good players who will do their research and share with everyone else to be officers. If you are joining another guild, look for one that will cater to your play style and availability. The people you play with will have a tremendous impact on how well you develop as a raider.

How to be a World of Warcraft millionaire

I got an email the other day from a friend I used to be in a guild with in World of Warcraft. I still play, but he left us about six months ago because he was having trouble keeping up with his classes. I understand – I’ve been there before myself.

He was thinking of jumping back into the game and wanted to ask me about a guide he had just read about and whether I thought it was legitimate. The name of the guide was Warcraft Millionaire.

Now, I’d heard the name tossed around a couple of times in general chat in Ironforge and on a couple of the forums, but hadn’t really thought much of it. There are dozens of gold making guides out there and they usually just recycle the same information. But, my friend was a pro and he seemed to be excited about it – he even said it might get him back into the game and the guild just so he could see how well it worked. If the guide was that compelling, I needed to find out more about it so, I visited the website at WarcraftMillionaire.com and read more about what the guy who wrote it – Brad Johnson – was selling.

My friend was right in a lot of ways. The guide is much different than the other ones I’ve seen before. First, it is written by the game’s first self-professed millionaire – something that was relatively hard to believe until I saw the video of him showcasing his multiple characters at the gold cap.

Second, the guide is extremely well written. A lot of times, you’ll find that game guides are written by someone who clearly didn’t spend much time awake during English classes in school. Well organized, well thought out and broken up into neat, easy to read sections, World of Warcraft Millionaire is a pleasure to read.

Finally, the information in the guide and its multiple bonus guides, is really quite useful. Not only does it include information that I have been more than a little interested in learning more about – things like low level gold techniques (why does every guide seem to focus on Outland these days) and advanced Auction House advice. The guide also focuses on helping beginners and veterans alike understand the basic fundamentals of the Warcraft economy instead of just showing them where to go and kill stuff for gold. It’s a nice breath of fresh air and I can see why this guide would work – if only because it is so easy to follow.

I won’t make any claims or statements about this guide making you a millionaire, or even thousands of gold for that matter – you always have to put the work in to be successful with things like this; but I will say that there are dozens of great gold making tips, a thorough, well presented voice, and one of the top notch approaches to gold making I’ve seen a long time. Plus, I’m glad to have my friend back in the guild. Kudos to Brad.

Mila Kunis <3 World Of Warcraft

While promoting the Max Payne movie last week, actor and Macauly Culkin friend Mila Kunis totally geeked out over World of Warcraft on talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Kunis told Kimmel that she had to quit a year ago because she was too into the game. According to Mila:

The problem is, if anyone plays Warcraft … I’m really good, I’m a really kick ass Mage … We’ll you’re your own person and you can get into a guild… You gotta be in a guild, because you gotta do raids that require thirty or forty people. But now with the expansion pack, they’re gonna have raids that require only like ten people. So that’ll really make things a lot easier … Oh my god, it’s such a good game. I love it.

She seems up-to-date for someone who quit a year ago. Every time she tries to get out, they pull her back in.
