New Healing Absorb Texture on Midnight Beta – Many Default Raid Frame Texture Updates

With changes over the last few weeks, the default raid frames have gotten texture updates. Are they better or worse than before?

As a reminder, you can use addons to customize your raid frames if you don't like these textures, and this represents the default raid frames only

New Healing Absorb Texture

As noticed by Megasett on Twitter, healing absorbs placed onto players by enemies have a brand new texture.

This brand new texture has "+" signs all over the texture representing the healing absorb. Previously, there was no extra pattern, and instead it was just a simple shaded overlay.

At this time, there does not seem to be an option to disable this new texture and use the old ones. This new pattern seems very busy, and the old healing absorb function seemed to be what people have gotten accustomed to.

Out of Range Indicator

The new Out of Range indicator has been removed. In the previous Beta build, a new "Eyeball" texture was added that appears in the center of a player's raid frame when they are out of range, in addition to fading out the frame itself. Many players have criticized this as intrusive since it could not be disabled and the frame fading out was enough. It seems that Blizzard has heard this feedback.

New Dispel Tint

A new dispel indicator has been added on the Beta a couple week ago, to make dispels much more noticeable on raid frames. The entire frame of the player will now be tinted a certain color, which should make it much clearer when a Poison, Curse, Disease or Magic effect is applied. However, the tint was so powerful and so bright that it easily clashed against certain class colors. This has been made slightly better in the latest Beta build.

This effect is turned on by default, but can be disabled in the options.
