Warcraft: Forever Legacy System Explained

One of the many new innovations coming in World of Warcraft: Forever is a new Legacy System, a series of unlockable perks and rewards!

Legacy Challenges
Challenging players to complete a wide variety of achievement-like goals across a variety of categories, the system is built to benefit everyone: completionists can focus on maximizing reputations, earning PvP ranks, or clearing dungeons and raids, while players who just love the Classic leveling journey can level multiple characters and tradeskills. Unlike achievements, each of these goals will unlock new account-wide perks.

Increasing Tradeskills

Earning PvP Ranks

Maximizing Reputations

Completing Dungeons and Raids

There are several categories of challenges, with something for all types of players.

Legacy Point Perks
Each of the challenges awards one legacy point per challenge completed. These points can then be spent within a special talent tree to unlock specialized perks across three categories, which benefit all characters across the account. Some of the bonuses have multiple ranks, and while the majority are passive, there are also activated abilities, though none of the bonuses appear combat related in any way.

There does appear to be a cap on the number of unlockable perks, though we aren't yet sure how it progresses.

Professions

Working Overtime (0/5) - Increases your chance to gain a skill increase from using any primary, secondary, or class-based tradeskill by 4%.

Performance Bonus (0/5) - You have a 5% chance to receive 100% increased Merchant Favor when you turn in a crate to the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics.

Luremaster (0/5) - While fishing with a lure active, you have a 25% chance to catch an extra fish.

Master Chef (0/5) - Your cooking recipes have a 10% chance to create an extra result.

Dedicated Study (0/5, 25 sec cast / 23 hour cooldown) - Increases your skill by 1 in your lowest tradeskill among your Primary and Secondary tradeskills. If you have already reached 300 skill in your two current Primary tradeskills and all three Secondary Tradeskills, you will gain 2 to 4 of a random Elemental Essence.

Adventure

Well Rested (0/5) - Your rested experience accumulates 4% faster and your rested experience cap is increased by 4%.

Talented (0/5) - You gain talent points every level starting at level 9 instead of starting at level 10, but you still may not have more than 51 total talent points.

High Alert (0/2) - Increases your ability to detect nearby targets with Stealth as if your level were increased by 1. Ineffective in battlegrounds.

Thrill of Adventure (0/5) - You gain 1% of your maximum Health and Mana over 10 sec each time you deliver the killing blow to a non-trivial enemy. Ineffective in dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds.

Resourcefulness

The Quick and the Dead (0/2) - Increases movement speed while dead by 5% and your helpful spells and abilities cost no resources for 1 min after being resurrected or until you enter combat.

Reinforce (0/5) - You take 6% less durability loss when you die.

Diplomat (0/5) - Increases your reputation gains by 2%.

For Great Honor (0/5) - Increases Honor Points gained by 2%.

Permanence (0/2) - Your class abilities which grant long-duration stat or attribute benefits to all party or raid members last 50% longer, and the benefits you gain from resting at a camp last 50% longer.

Legacy Rewards
While completing these challenges, players will also unlock various cosmetic and collection rewards based on the total number of points earned, somewhat like a renown track. From what we've seen so far at the BlizzCon gameplay demo, these include collectables such as a Replica Ironforge Air Rifle, which allows players to fire shots at each other and stun players (with points being counted!), Spectral Bear Cub pet, Spectral Bear tabard, and the Reins of the Spectral Bear mount.

Rewards are based on total points earned, irrespective of how many points are used to unlock perks.
