The Best Early Gear Upgrades for Mages in The Burning Crusade Anniversary

As the official release of The Burning Crusade on Anniversary servers draws nearer, players are beginning to make preparations for entering the Dark Portal. Here are some great early gearing options for Mages!

Mage Leveling Guide for The Burning Crusade

Best Quest Upgrades for Mage

The Staff of Twin Worlds

Reward from The Path of Anguish/Felspark Ravine

This should be one of the first items you go for as a new Mage in TBC. This staff is a reward from one of the first quests in the game and gives a ton of much-needed Intellect and Increased Damage by magical spells and effects.

Ancient Crystal Talisman & Glowing Crystal Insignia

Reward from A Spirit Ally?/Overlord Gorefist

Trinkets are one of the hardest new items to come by for a Mage, and when leveling in Outland, it rarely gets better than these two. They are unique to Horde/Alliance, so you can only have one of the two, but I would recommend doing the quests to get them ASAP, as they provide a strong damage boost.

Vengeance of the Illidari

Reward from Overlord/Cruel's Intentions

Vengeance of the Illidari is another great trinket that you can get early on. This includes a group quest in Hellfire Peninsula, but is well worth gathering a group for, as it provides a strong stat boost.

Best Dungeon Upgrades for Mage

Crystalfire Staff

Drops from Omor the Unscarred

This is a great staff to go for after your initial entry into Outland. Of course, dungeons require a five-man party, but this staff is a ton stronger than any other options in Hellfire Peninsula.

Mindfire Waistband

Drops from Keli'dan the Breaker

Mindfire Waistband is likely the first item that you'll encounter with Sockets. These are brand new features to wow TBC, allowing you to place gems in them that provide extra stats. With two sockets, this belt can be upgraded to be much better than any other early alternative and is an amazing thing to aim for early into Outland.

Arcing Bracers

Drops from Broggok

These bracers are a very solid item that provides a very strong amount of increased spell damage.

Spore-Soaked Vaneer

Drops from Quagmirran

Much like the bracers above, this is a very strong cloak that provides all the key stats for Mages. You're unlikely to find a much better alternative early into Outland.
