New Nameplate Options on The Burning Crusade Anniversary PTR

With the latest update to The Burning Crusade Anniversary PTR, Blizzard has added a suite of new Nameplate settings that will allow players to customize the appearance of nameplates, add threat indicators, Cast Bar Information, and more!

The Burning Crusade Phase 3 Overview

In addition to the familiar Interface menu options of toggling the names of specific NPC and player Names and Nameplates, the new Namplate menu includes several style options, including Classic, Retail, and Legacy. All of the Styles and Options can also be previewed in the new Nameplates window, so you can make sure your Nameplates look perfect before getting into the action.

Perhaps one of the most useful new features is the Cast Bar Information toggler. This option allows players to customize the information displayed as part of an enemy's cast bar, including the Spell Name, the Target of the Spell, and an option to highlight the cast bar when the player is being targeted.

Players familiar with some of the most popular Nameplate addons will be happy to see that Threat Indicators will also be a customizable option for Enemy Nameplates, allowing players to quickly reference their aggro levels.

Additional options coming to Nameplates include the ability to toggle Enemy and Player Buffs and Defuffs, Buff and Debuff display size, and the size of Nameplates. While Blizzard released this PTR early, without any gameplay systems, it should be noted that these new Nameplate features currently break other Nameplate addons, such as Plater and Threat Plates. This could be a result of the addons requiring an update on the PTR to work properly, or perhaps Blizzard is looking for a permanent solution to addons.
