Mists of Pandaria is notorious for its reputation grind, but it's not quite as bad as you may remember. You'll have reputation boosts available from the start through Grand Commendations once you get to revered (Grand Commendation of the Klaxxi with The Klaxxi, for example), and a lot of the reputation requirements for certain gear pieces have been lowered for the Classic version of the game.
