The Unfinished Secrets of Azshara & How They Might Fit Into Classic+

Since World of Warcraft was first released in 2004, the mysterious zone of Azshara has always felt a little emptier than other zones. While there are a few quests to complete here, including the Hydraxian Waterlords quest, which culminates in rewarding the Aqual Quintessence, there are also many areas of this massive zone that feel completely unused or unfinished.

Dungeon Changes in Classic+

We recently discussed the user-submitted Timbermaw Prison idea from the Classic+ Project, but what other content could we see in the zone of Azshara in a future version of Classic? YouTuber Jediwarlock recently released a video where he discusses all of the lost and unfinished secrets of this mysterious zone.

In this article, we'll explore some of the highest upvoted user submissions from the wowclassic.plus website related to Azshara. If you'd like to learn even more about this zone's unfinished content, be sure to check out the video above.

New Quest Hub

There are at least 15 Azshara quests in the database that were never actually used in the live game. This has led many players to speculate that these quests were unfinished for some reason, which could explain why the zone feels so empty.

Jediwarlock created an additional video, where he documents the strange wreckage of the Horizon Scout, the surviving crew, and potential quests that could be related to this story. Players agree that this area on the southern coast of the zone could function as a new quest hub that would potentially lead into a new Battleground.

New Battleground: Azshara Crater

Up on the mysterious Forlorn Ridge in the southern part of the zone are two paths, one seemingly designed for the Alliance and the other for Horde players. While these paths do not appear to serve any purpose in the game currently, the caves that they lead up to are reminiscent of other battleground entrances seen throughout the world of Azeroth.

It is widely believed that these paths would lead to the Azshara Crater, which was originally intended to be a MoBA-like battleground. However, contributors on the wowclassic.plus website think this could work better as a Plunderstorm or Battle Royale gamemode. This Battleground never made it into the live game, but there is a fully designed map that can be explored on the noclip website.

New Dungeon: Ruins of Eldarath

Finally, players agree that the Ruins of Eldarath in the central area of Azshara could serve as an entry point to a new Dungeon. Obviously, this dungeon would be teeming with naga, and perhaps other elemental or aquatic enemies as well.

The user who submitted this idea suggests that the dungeon would be tuned for level 50-55 players who would be sent to investigate the Ruins by the lone neutral naga NPC in Tanaris - Zalashji.

The user-submitted ideas above are just the highest-voted Azshara entries with over 500 votes. If you'd like to explore more user-submitted ideas or submit one yourself, head over to the World section of wowclassic.plus.
