The Most In-Demand Specs for The Burning Crusade Anniversary Phase 2

After a few weeks of raiding Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep, community member, saxon_hs, has compiled data from Phase 2 that takes into account the total raiding population of each Specialization vs. the population of the top 50 speed runs.

The Burning Crusade Phase 2 Overview

Comparing these two statistics can give us an estimate for the most in-demand Specializations, which may help some raid groups to improve their performance within these Phase 2 raids.

Enhancement Shaman

Once again, the Enhancement Shaman comes in first place as the most in-demand specialization for raiding, due to their raid-wide Bloodlust/Heroism buff, as well as Windfury Totem in physical melee groups.

Enhancement Shaman DPS Guide

In addition to Windfury, high-level Enhancement Shaman will also totem twist Grace of Air Totem and bring the Unleashed Rage talent, which further increases the damage of melee groups.

Since Enhancement Shaman are considered a requirement for any serious melee comp, they remain at the top of the list for most in-demand specializations that raids desire in Phase 2.

Fury Warrior

While this statistic may be a bit misleading, speedrunning raids have been favoring Fury Warriors over Beast Mastery Hunters in Phase 2. This is primarily due to Fury Warriors' higher trash damage, leading to faster clears.

The reason that this Specialization may not be as in-demand as the data suggests is that non-speedrunning raiders will likely not see an advantage in taking a Fury Warrior over a Beast Mastery Hunter, as these specs can be interchangeable, depending on whether your raid prefers faster trash clears or boss kill times.

While increasing the number of Fury Warriors in a raid will likely lead to faster clears, Beast Mastery Hunters are just as viable.

Retribution Paladin

While the Retribution Paladin made it into our top 5 most in-demand specializations for Phase 1, they appear to be even more in-demand for Phase 2.

Retribution Paladin DPS Guide

With an increase in outgoing damage during Phase 2, many Paladins decided to swap to Holy. While this may be a feasible strategy for the short-term, high-performing raids will prefer a Restoration Shaman, Enhancement Shaman, and Retribution Paladin over a Holy Paladin. Having an Enhancement Shaman in the melee group is particularly important when considering including an additional Retribution Paladin for a third Blessing or Judgement.

While this is the best-case scenario, many casual raids will struggle to find an Enhancement Shaman to allow for multiple Retribution Paladins, as Enhancement is currently the least populated and most in-demand specialization.

Restoration Shaman

With more raid-wide damage going out in Phase 2, the Restoration Shaman has become even more in-demand.

The increased need for more Restoration Shamans is nearly identical to the overpopulation of Elemental Shamans, which leads to the easiest outcome of some Elementals utilizing their dual specialization to help with healing during raids.

Feral Druid Tank

Finally, the most in-demand Tank in The Burning Crusade Anniversary Phase 2 is the Feral Druid.

With many casual raids taking Protection Warriors as their primary tank, the vast majority of high-performing raids will prefer a Feral Tank. This can be explained by Druid's high health pool, armor scaling, and overall avoidance.

In addition to survivability, Druid Tanks also deal the highest DPS and generate the highest amount of threat, compared to other tanks. Finally, Druid Tanks also provide Leader of the Pack for their group, further enhancing the damage output of the raid.
