WoW Classic content creator, Scottejaye, recently published a video going over some of these methods, and we'll highlight them below and provide additional insight into each.
Primal Fire Spawn (One Spot)
At the Throne of Kil'Jaeden in Hellfire Peninsula, there are several spawn locations for Incandescent Fel Spark. Instead of running around hoping to get as many tags as possible, find just one respawn point and sit there. Defeat the mob that spawns, and continue with what you're doing until the next one spawns.

This may not be the highest gold per hour, but it's fairly passive and requires only hitting a few abilities, and you'll regain your health and/or mana while waiting for the next one to spawn.
Mote Extractor
This will require flying around while using the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor. You can fly around zones such as Nagrand, Zangarmarsh, Shadowmoon Valley, and Netherstorm to search for cloud spawns.

Nagrand: Windy Cloud
Netherstorm: Arcane Vortex

Ethereum Prison Keys
While flying around Netherstorm for an Arcane Vortex to get Motes of Mana, you can swing by Manaforge Ultris and search for Ethereum Jailor, which has an 85% chance to drop an Ethereum Prison Key.
These can be sold on the Auction House or used by you to potentially spawn a mob after unlocking the jail, receiving a Rare quality item and disenchanting it to receive a Large Prismatic Shard.
Cobra Scales
This method will require you to have Skinning, but if you do a quick and easy farm, you can kill Coilskar Cobra to the South and Southeast of Coilskar Point in Shadowmoon Valley to receive Cobra Scales.
Coilskar Cistern
There's about a 10% chance that you'll get any scales, but if you do, they are highly valuable as they're used for key item enhancements, such as Nethercobra Leg Armor.

One tactic Scottejaye mentions is perhaps parking a character out there, doing some stuff on another character, and intermittently logging back in to see if any enemies have spawned to kill. If they have respawned, quickly skin them, and then log back into your other character and go about your day.
