Midnight Patch 12.0.5 OverviewRitual Sites Challenges and Rewards
Challenge Rankings in Ritual Sites
Ritual Sites are a fantastic way to gear up in Midnight Season 1. Players can purchase Champion and Hero track gear from Maren Silverwing with Field Accolades and even fully stock the World section of the Great Vault with 269 (4/6) Hero gear for Tier 5, 8 challenge runs. Unfortunately, Field Accolades are not transferrable, so you'll need to do Ritual Sites on the character that needs gear.
To maximize your Field Accolades acquisition, you'll want to increase the difficulty of the Ritual Site not only with higher Tiers but also more Challenges. Challenges function similarly to affixes in Mythic+, increasing the difficulty to improve the rewards. You can choose which challenges you want active for each Ritual Site run though here is a minimum requirement for how many Challenges you must have active at certain difficulties.
Tier 3: Requires 1+ Challenge
Tier 4: Requires 2+ Challenges
Tier 5: Requires 4+ Challenges
While it's easy to just suggest adding them all to maximize rewards, you'll typically want to ramp up the difficulty slowly especially for undergeared players. So which challenges are the easiest to manage to reach the higher Tiers of difficulty? Below we've ranked all the challenges solely based on which are easiest to manage. Each challenge has a different spoils modifier which increases awards, so that may factor into your decision.
RankChallengeSpoilsDescription & Notes
S-TierMagical Alarm Bells+13%Slaying enemies within the Ritual Site will spawn adds. The bigger the pull and more powerful the enemies slain, the stronger the adds will be.
Essentially spawns an extra enemy after killing 25 enemies. Comes with an in-game progress tracker to easily keep tabs on the next spawn. Typically pretty harmless in all situations.
S-TierTendrils+10%Grasping roots will spawn periodically, indicated by a swirling green circle underneath you. Step out of the circle before it detonates or be rooted and take some damage.
Fairly easy to avoid and if not the damage is not too insane. Can be a bit more disruptive for ranged players or in combination with some of the telegraphed enemy abilities.
A-TierTainted Corpses+10%Killing enemies in Ritual Sites spawn void zones, which need to be avoided.
This one is pretty easy to handle, especially for ranged players. You may need to do some additional kiting as melee.
A-TierManifestations+15%Spirits spawn periodically throughout the Ritual Site that cast a damaging AoE around them. Interrupt or hard crowd control them to make them despawn.
Can be a cause for panic if it catches you off guard, but you have a full 10 seconds to deal with them either through interrupt, CC, or running out of the circle. Stay calm and save an ability to handle them when they spawn.
B-TierEmbers+25%Four random areas in the Ritual Site are empowered, and protected by mobs with a floating orb over their head. Kill the mobs for the ember to dissipate. If left up, then the final boss will get a significant damage and HP buff.
Simply dispatch these enemies before killing major elites or bosses. Could potentially jump down to C-tier since it can be a pain, but the 25% spoils modifier is pretty juicy.
B-TierPatrols+15%Elite enemies patrol the Ritual Site. The easiest way to deal with these mobs is to avoid them, particularly on higher tiers.
These elites can be pretty beefy and annoying during large pulls, but are fairly easy to avoid. With rather large patrol areas, vigilance is key.
C-TierMalevolent Boons+20%Destroy the obelisks in the Ritual Site to remove the buffs they grant to enemies.
Destroying the obelisks disrupts normal pathing and adds a lot of additional time to runs. I generally recommend avoiding early on.
D-TierReinforced+15%There are additional enemies throughout the Ritual Site.
This adds a lot of extra enemies to the Ritual Site which severely complicates everything. More damage taken, more mechanics to avoid, more healing required. You'll get more spoils due to more enemies, but it certainly comes with a cost. Avoid unless maxing out your runs.
