Refueling Protocol
Arcanotron Custos's boss fight has a unique intermission with Refueling Protocol. Refueling Protocol makes Arcanotron Custos take 20% increased damage for 20 seconds.
During Refueling Protocol, several Energy Orbs spawn around the boss in a circle and slowly make their way towards the boss. Players will want to soak these orbs before they hit the boss. Soaking an orb leaves a puddle of Arcane Residue, and inflicts the player with Unstable Energy, a small DoT.
Soak Energy Orbs before they reach the boss!
Allowing an orb to reach the boss grants a stack of Arcane Empowerment, dealing heavy Arcane damage to the party and boosting the damage dealt by Arcanotron Custos by 20%. Because of this, it is crucial to prevent any orbs from reaching the boss.
Tank Strategy for Refueling Protocol
If Arcanotron Custos is tanked close enough to a wall, it will not force spawns on the side closest to the wall! The orbs have a set distance they spawn from the boss. If any wall or architecture is in the way of the orb's path, the orb will not spawn. Refueling Protocol always happens after the second Arcane Expulsion. The tank will need to be ready to move the boss as soon as the cast goes off.
This strategy helps simplify the fight by preventing inconvenient orb spawns. There are lots of mechanics in this fight that leave puddles on the ground. Having orbs spawn in puddles is not only risky to the player's survivability, but also has a greater chance of reaching the boss because the puddles slow the player's movement speed by 50%.
By having a way to control where orbs will spawn, players have a simpler time knowing where to position to grab orbs before they reach the boss!
