Alter Time Interview with Paul Kubit
From this, it seems that players will be getting 10 talent points and talent trees will be updated with new talents in the Hero talent tree and Spec trees! These points will be split up among the existing trees, with 3 points going into the class tree, 3 points in a new line of hero talents, and 4 points set aside for the specialization tree.
What's unclear is exactly how these points will be distributed, as 3 extra points in the class tree does not necessarily mean 3 points at the bottom of the class tree. It's very possible that they instead choose to extend each of the tiered "gates" to force players to spend an extra point at the top, middle, and bottom of the tree instead, but only time will tell.
The four points in the specialization trees are especially interesting, as they will be introducing a new set of "apex" talents, which will enhance or modify the functionality of an existing ability. Without any more information on how this works, we'll have to wait till Saturday to find out more!
Alter Time (translated)
During the World of Warcraft community event at Gamescom 2025, AlterTime had the opportunity to speak with the game’s developers.
In our conversation with Paul Kubit, Associate Game Director, he shared how many new talent points will be introduced with the Midnight expansion, how they’ll be distributed across our talent trees, and revealed a new type of talent called “apex.”
Here’s how the talent points will be distributed:
3 points for the class tree, although no new talents will be added there.
3 points for Hero talents, which will introduce a brand-new talent line.
4 points for the specialization tree, where the new “apex” talents will appear. Of these:
2 will enhance existing abilities
1 will modify an ability entirely
More details will be revealed during the panel scheduled for Saturday at Gamescom.
