Some Lesser Known Class Quirks Heading Into The Burning Crusade

As we prepare to enter the Dark Portal once again, there are some lesser-known pieces of information that players should consider during their journey into The Burning Crusade.

TBC Classic Phase 1 Overview

Druid

Druids are the only class that can learn the Flying skill before level 70, with the Flight Form ability available at level 68.

In addition to getting early access to flying, Druids can also collect Herb nodes while in Flight Form, making them the best class for Herbalism farming.

Hunter

Hunter Pets gain some huge survivability options that will allow them to survive AoE and boss damage in raids.

There are also new ranks of Spell Resistance for your pets, which will ensure they are able to live longer and continue dealing damage throughout the fight.

Mage

Mages can learn their final rank of Mana Shield at level 68 - Mana Shield.

While this ability will drain your mana at an alarming rate, it does provide protection against all forms of damage, and not just physical damage, as it did in Classic.

Paladin

Retribution Paladins can take advantage of a new damage-increasing cooldown at level 70, Avenging Wrath. This spell is great to pop at the beginning of a fight, along with DPS trinkets to maximize damage.

One thing to watch out for is the fact that this spell also causes Forbearance, which doesn't allow you to bubble yourself. It will be a tricky balance to deal bursts of damage, while not accidentally pulling aggro with a lucky (or unlucky) Windfury proc.

Priest

The bonus threat from the Mind Blast spell has been removed.

In Classic, Mind Blast always caused a high amount of threat. This could be related to the evidence suggesting that Discipline Priests were originally designed to be Tanks, but Blizzard eventually updated this to make life easier for Shadow Priests.

Rogue

At level 66, Rogues can learn a new ability called Cloak of Shadows.

While this ability can be amazing to prevent incoming damage or crowd control effects, the version in The Burning Crusade only has a 90% chance to work, so don't be surprised if you press this and still get CC'd in Arena.

Shaman

Shamans receive a new Totem at level 64 - the Wrath of Air Totem.

This will be a huge upgrade for DPS when dropped in the raid's caster group.

Warlock

Warlocks do not learn their staple AoE damage spell until level 70.

While this spell will be amazing in raids, players looking to dungeon grind all the way to level 70 may be disappointed that this skill will not be available while leveling up.

Warrior

A unique spec, the Dual-wield Arms Warrior is actually viable at the beginning of the expansion. While Fury is still better for individual DPS, Arms Warriors bring the Blood Frenzy debuff, which enhances the raid as a whole.

Eventually, DPS Warriors will want to respec to Fury in later Phases, but in the early stages of The Burning Crusade, dual-wield Arms Warrior is a useful spec.
