The Burning Crusade World Boss Loot Tables
With the accelerated TBC Anniversary timeline, best-in-slot gear, and just the overall lack of most players being able to have an attempt at Doom Lord Kazzak or Doomwalker, should Blizzard consider making changes to how they work in the game, or does this remove the "luster" of defeating such a boss? Let's explore some alternatives.
Instance World Bosses
One option Blizzard could implement could be something we actually saw in Season of Discovery - Instanced World Bosses. While this may take the "World" out of "World Bosses," this allowed everyone a chance to experience the encounters and get a chance at their drops. After all, World Bosses in TBC Anniversary drop some best-in-slot gear such as Ring of Reciprocity, Terrorweave Tunic, Gilded Trousers of Benediction, and more!
Unique Loading Screens for Season of Discovery World Bosses
In doing this, yes, players would have access to gear that only a select few may have, but this would also help make up for the accelerated timeline for TBC Anniversary and fill in the gaps of the lockouts we're "missing" by progressing to the next phases more quickly than before. This would also create more raiding opportunities for guilds.
Having experienced this system in Season of Discovery, it felt good to have more content to experience, rather than relying on select members of your guild to stake out the spawn location, ping everyone on Discord, hope people can rally together at whatever random time during the day, and get the tag before anyone else on the mega-realm can do the same.
Faster Respawn Time
We saw Blizzard make the respawn time faster for World Bosses in Mists of Pandaria Classic (among other versions), such as making Galleon respawn every 30 minutes. This is another option for addressing World Bosses, but there would still be the issue of hoping you get the tag. Also, on PvP servers, while this is likely what many players would want, you'd still need to fight off players while fighting the World Boss.
Sure, these are mechanics and gameplay loops that have been in the game for quite some time, but considering the accelerated timeline we're experiencing, perhaps it's time for a change.
What do you think? Should Blizzard make any changes to the way World Bosses operate in TBC Anniversary due to the accelerated content timeline? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
