Player Housing Tip! – Use Embedded Chairs to Make Seats on Any Object

Lounging around the house has never been easier with this trick; simply clipping stools and chairs into other objects can make for a cool seating area. Being able to sit on your bed or a countertop is a fun way to add some charm to your housing selfies!

For this trick, I used the Zuldazar Stool due to its flat edges, which make it easier to line up and hide in other decor, but this is not required and any chair can be used. For finding stools and chairs for this trick, you can check out the full catalogue of chairs using our Housing Decor Database.

This trick was first popularized on the Midnight Alpha by Ivy, who showed off the trick on social media with an cozy kitchen area as a backdrop, taking a cool selfie with their character sitting on a bar countertop.

Tips and Tricks for Embedding Chairs
As with most housing tricks, there is a lot of ways to use the mechanics in creative ways, but the basics are very straight forward and can be used in nearly every house. If you come up with a cool setup for this trick, we'd love to see it in our Housing Gallery!

Clipping the chair
This needs to be done in advanced mode for the move tool, which give fine control over the position of objects. It should be noted that once you exit edit mode, it is very difficult to move the clipped chair since it's nearly impossible to select. Luckily, there's a trick for this as well!

Fine Adjustments
In order to select the chair after clipping it into a decor piece and adjusting it, use the scale tool to shrink the object (in this case the bed), revealing the chair. Using the scale tool does not adjust the absolute position of the object, so you don't have to worry about ruining your perfectly placed scenery to add stools!

Tip: Scale the Stool
If you're having trouble hiding your chair properly, it's important to know that scaled down chairs still retain full functionality. The downside to this is that the hitbox to click the chair itself is smaller, and thus sitting in the chair can be more difficult.

This can be worked around by enabling the Enable Interact Key option in your settings window and keybinding Interact with Target. Using this, interacting with the chair does not require a mouse-click at all and the chair can be however small you'd like.
