On January 3, 2006, 16 years ago, World of Warcraft Patch 1.9.0: The Gates of Ahn'Qiraj was released and players were able to set to on the realm World Events that would open those gates; gongs would ring, unique mounts would be won by a very lucky few, and the tales of that day are still being told.
