On this day, December 8, 2009, Patch 3.3: Fall of the Lich King launched. This was the last major patch for Wrath of the Lich King, although another raid, The Ruby Sanctum, was introduced later in a minor patch. Fall of the Lich King opened up the ominous Icecrown Citadel as a 3 part dungeon and a 12 boss raid culminating in the epic battle against Arthas, the Lich King himself in an encounter that continues to affect the lives of the Heroes of Azeroth.
