No Lower Level PvP Protection Planned for WoW: Forever

A controversial topic in world PvP is the ability for higher-level players to kill and camp lower-level players. In the latest WoW: Forever Podcast, Blizzard has confirmed there is no plan to add any protection from this interaction.

Content Creator Savix asked Aggrend if there were any plans to implement any sort of protection from this player interaction, as this has been a feature some players have been asking for on PvP servers.

"The short answer is: no. PvP occurs on a PvP server. It has been true for 22 years of this game. That's something you gotta look inward and ask yourself if you are ok with.... You may have a frustrating game session because that just happens."

It's interesting to get this response from developers, as currently on China's Titan Reforged servers, there is actually this type of protection implemented on the game currently, with the specifics to "prevent a low-level player from becoming a target for 'camping/harassment' after being killed once due to a significant level difference in PvP combat."

To improve the gameplay experience and competitive fairness for players on the Titan Reforged "Time" server, we have implemented a new PvP Protection Aura.

PvP Vulnerability Protection Aura Effective Rules

When a higher-level player or pet kills a lower-level player, if the level difference between the two is 5 levels or more, the lower-level player will gain a 1-hour protection aura, making them immune to damage from characters 5 levels or more higher than themselves. This protection aura also applies to the player's pet.

Note: The purpose of the Weakness Protection Aura is not to allow low-level characters to retaliate or heal recklessly; rather, it's to prevent a low-level player from becoming a target for "camping/harassment" after being killed once due to a significant level difference in PvP combat. The core purpose of this mechanism is to give low-level players a chance to escape or recover, preventing them from dying repeatedly. Therefore, if you use group healing, area-of-effect healing, or apply buffs to teammates, the protection aura will be easily removed.
