How to Remove Embellishments to Recraft Endgame Gear in Midnight

As players gain another Spark of Radiance to created a new endgame crafted item this week, they may find themselves wanting to remove an embellishment from previously crafted pieces of gear, freeing up room for another bonus elsewhere.

Creating Work OrdersRecrafting

All embellished items contribute to a unique-equipped cap displayed on the item tooltip: specifically, only two embellished items may be worn at one time, due to the extra amount of power provided by those bonuses. While returning players are probably already familiar with the process of recrafting embellishments, newer players may not realize that removing an embellishment does not actually require creating an entirely new item.

Note the removal of the unique-equipped text and the addition of +1 sparkle instead.

Removing embellishments is just as easy as adding them, and even done in the same way. Recrafting the item with a Lucky Keychain optimal reagent, which is crafted by engineers and sold on the auction house, will replace the previous embellishment with a new effect providing +1 Sparkle - a trick stat which provides no actual player power.

Note that this only applies to embellishments added as optional reagents, such as Darkmoon Sigil: Hunt and Arcanoweave Lining. Items which come with built-in embellishments by default can not have them replaced or removed.

Unlike previous expansions, the Lucky Keychain actually does provide a small bonus though. Like the Miniature Roulette Wheel dropped by One-Armed Bandit in the Liberation of Undermine, the extra sparkle will cause eligible characters to always use their special jump animation, meaning Night Elves will always flip, Blood Elves will always spin, and so on. For some players, that alone may be worth it!
