Patch 12.0.7 Overview
Last week, similar slot-specific Hero caches were added to the Void Assault vendor, giving players a way to target specific gear slots in order to fill out any missing pieces. Those are still available, but they are bind on pickup, making them an avenue of gear for characters which earn them, but useless to those beyond that point.
The randomized caches are also still available, with the Heroic version discounted to only 100 accolades.
With today's update, players can spend 100 Field Accolades to purchase a Champion-track Warbound cache instead, which can then be sent to their alts. Because Field Accolades themselves are not Warbound, this is one of only a few ways for players to spend excess currency on characters who no longer need the gear or cosmetics, though there are a few new cosmetics to spend them on in Patch 12.0.7 as well.
While players will also be able to purchase Champion gear for their alts by spending Voidlight Marl on Quel'Thalas Equipment Chest, these pieces are still random, so there's no guarantee of actually getting an upgrade. This makes it good for new characters that still need everything, but not as useful for those trying to finish off specific slots. Between the two, player also have more choice and ability to spend whichever currency they have a surplus of.
Erroneous Heroic tag aside, these caches are Warbound, though the Champion-track gear inside is not!
As there will be many more ways to earn Accolades in Patch 12.0.7, particularly from the Heroic Invasion activities, it should not be particularly difficult to gear a character to Champion level. At that point, the character will presumably be strong enough to start engaging in Void Assaults, Invasions, Ritual Sites, Mythic+, or other activities themselves in order to increase their power further.
Slot-specific Heroic-track caches still cost 750 Field Accolades.
Random Heroic-track cache still cost 500 Field Accolades, though there seems little reason to purchase them other than collecting remaining transmog.
Slot-specific Champion-track caches are Warbound and cost 100 Field Accolades.
Random Champion-track caches are now 75 Field Accolades, down from 100.
