Currently, characters with the Herbalism and Mining profession skills can get a little extra experience by picking herbs and mining ore nodes as they go. In Dragonflight, crafting professions give experience bonuses for first time crafts, meaning that leveling players can benefit substantially from crafting professions while leveling. Now, this may level you too fast if you are trying to level through the story the first time around, plus you need mats. But for alts this is a dream come true.
