Don’t Dig Too Fast, Or You Might Be Disappointed – Archaeology Bugged in Mists of Pandaria Classic

Archaeology has always been the Marmite* of professions, you either love it or hate it. But in Mists of Pandaria Classic, even the most avid fans of Archaeology are currently struggling because Archaeology has been bugged for the entire expansion so far.

Archaeology Overview & Leveling Guide

Let's set the scene. After many hours of flying around the old Worlds, you are finally ready to go to Pandaria and start the big digs. You have amazing rewards, such as Spear of Xuen, within your sights. However, upon arriving in Pandaria, there are no digsites available to you.

Exhibit A:

Trained in Orgrimmar, leveled to 527, no Dig Sites in Pandaria.

This bug doesn't affect everyone, and the working theory is that it strikes players who have leveled over 525 skill in the old world. Wowhead writers have tested this theory, and it appears to stack up.

Exhibit B:

Trained in Orgrimmar, went straight to Jade Forest, Dig Sites Available

And it isn't just your ability to gain these rewards that is affected. If you are an Achievement Hunter or Collector, you will be missing out on pets, mounts, and valuable achievement points.

For now, until this bug is fixed, we recommend you wait until you reach Pandaria to level past 525 in Archaeology.

*Marmite - British Savory Spread (Vegemite in Australia). Uncommon in the US due to its horrible taste.
