Patch 12.1 Overview
Surges appear on the map while active, though players can server hop to find more.
An objective of the Turn Back the Surge weekly quest, Cursed Surges can appear in five different locations across the Coiled Isle, though there will not always be one active at any given time. The event itself is pretty straightforward: asking players to complete an objective such as killing mobs or interacting with various eggs, prisoners, etc. Whatever the requirement, fill the bar to spawn a boss, which will complete the activity.
The first time players defeat a boss each day, they'll receive Voidlight Marl, Coffer Key Shards, a Warbound piece of 266 item level Adventurer gear, and a chance at the Ruby Writhe mount. A Corrosive Soul can also drop at Rank 4 with Zul'jarra's Forces, while Rank 8 will upgrade the gear to 279 item level on the Veteran-track.
Any number of repeat completions will award a Venom-Soaked Satchel, containing gold, Adventurer Mistcrest, and more Voidlight Marl.

Gathering Perks
Each time the event is completed, players can also gain the Cursed Land and Waters buff, allowing them to drain cursed and envenomated herb and ore nodes to obtain Cursebound Globe and Neutralized Venom Clot, which is used in crafting. Additionally, players will be able to find six unique cursed fish for the Angler of The Coiled Isle achievement. This awards a Sinful Pearl, which can be used to change the color of The Coiled Huntress underwater transformation.
Drain the venom to receive the materials.
Cursed Achievements
In addition to the normal rewards, players can also earn achievements for completing all five distinct surges, 300 total surges will award title.
Hidden Toy
Finally, players can discover a hidden toy by defeating the boss of the northeastern-most Cursed Surge location, around 70, 33. Ss'akrithos is the only event boss which drops Diver's Key Fragments, three of which are combined into a Diver's Key. Taking the key to the northern island will allow players to open a Sunken Diver's Chest to obtain the Ancient Amani Mask.
