While Vers might not be your best stat, it's still an extra 9-10 gems worth of stats on your hardest boss.
Like most profession crafted items in Midnight, the new Radiant Vantus Runes come in two qualities, amounting from 216 - 270 Versatility, or 3-5% between ranks. While this may not seem like a particularly large bump, it adds up across an entire raid group - certainly enough to influence early boss victories over tough early fights like Crown of the Cosmos. The Versatility boost also provides half as much defensive value, so that 5% increased damage amounts to 2.5% incoming damage reduction. Despite similar names, Vantus Runes also stack with the Void-Touched Augment Rune, though the later does not persist through death.
The lower rank rune provides 3% Versatility, which will show on the character sheet within the relevant encounter.
There is a catch though. All three Midnight Season 1 raids share the same Vantus Rune, so only one may be used each week, granting its bonus against that boss and that boss only. It does persist across different difficulties, affecting the Normal and Heroic and even Mythic version of the same encounter, but this is not typically a consideration, so much as using it for whatever the most difficult encounter of the week is expected to be.
The higher rank rune instead provides 5% Versatility, thanks Zorthas!
So, while you're progressing through The Voidspire, The Dreamrift, or the upcoming March on Quel'Danas, think about which boss is likely to give you the most trouble and coordinate with your raid group to gain this distinct advantage.
