AoE in Patch 9.1.5 – The Math Behind AoE Soft Caps and Square Root Scaling
The hard target caps that were added in Shadowlands for AoE abilities are being changed to soft caps in Patch 9.1.5. Under the new rules, most abilities will now hit all targets, using square root scaling to deal reduced damage to extra targets hit beyond the soft cap.
