Blizzard, through the WoWUI Discord, has posted UI development notes. For Midnight launch, Blizzard are working on fixing exploits and high-priority dev requests for the Lua API, but more changes will be coming in 12.0.1 and likely through hotfixes for classes the base UI and more.
