Mythic+ Season 2
Keystone Reset
Mythic+ keystones reset to a +2 at the start of a Season and generally, when you loot a keystone for the first time, it will be a +2 keystone. If you're doing lots of Mythic+ dungeons, especially at the higher levels, having a +2 keystone that no one wants to do because it's "time wasted", means that you have a dead keystone all week or you'll have to level it yourself. In addition, if it is a lower level key, that's one less keystone for your group to reroll with when you're looking for targeted loot.
However, there are a few ways to get a Keystone that starts at a higher level. As a reminder, here are the rules for Keystones:
You can pick up a Keystone from the end of a Tier 11 Delve, Mythic 0 Dungeon, Mythic+ dungeon, or from the Great Vault with a M0 or higher rewards in the dungeon row.
Players will be awarded a +2 keystone, unless they've done a Mythic+ dungeon already, at which point it will be one less than their highest.
So how do you avoid getting a +2 key at the start of the Season?
Avoid the +2 Keystone
The main thing is you need to avoid any activity which grants you a Mythic+ keystone before you complete a higher level key. Just remember that Tier 11 Delves, looting your Vault and Mythic 0s will give you a Keystone if you are not prepared, so try to avoid them.
4 Alts, 1 Main
If you have a set group with geared alts and don't mind getting a +2 keystone on them you can level a keystone with 4 alts, and 1 main. This would allow you to level the main's keystone from a +2 upwards, and then when things are starting to get difficult, or you reach your desired level, you swap the alts to the main, and everyone gets a keystone equal to -1 of the keystone level (e.g. If you complete a +8, you will get a +7 keystone in the first dungeon).
Your alts will start with +2 Keystones, but it's better than your main since many players will be focusing on that for the first few days.
Filled Bags
This became more wide-spread last season, but players who had full bags were unable to receive the Mythic+ keystone that was auto-looted to them at the end of a Mythic+ dungeon. This means that the Keystone would not be given, and as of last season was not mailed to you meaning that you could attempt to loot it at the end of the next dungeon. This method allows you to use your main, because as long as you keep your bags full, the keystone cannot be given to you. When you want the keystone, empty your bags to receive a keystone equal to -1 of the keystone level. Be careful though about filling your bags with consumables as if you accidently use a consumable and make a slot, you will get a keystone.
There is no guarantee that this works this Season as Blizzard has changed looting of Keystones in the past. At one point, you could just "not loot", the keystone from the end chest, but they made it auto-loot which is why the bag filled trick now exists. Use this at your own risk.
Friends or LFG
The third way is to benefit from someone else leveling their key. If you don't have any rush to do Mythic+, Delves, or loot your Great Vault, you can find someone who is willing to let you use their keystone in the evening, or later this week, and just get a keystone off their already leveled key which will also give you -1 keystone level.
