Explore Azeroth's Original Maps on noclip
While freely exploring every zone in Azeroth is amazing, one of the most interesting aspects of this site is the fact that it includes maps from previously unreleased content, including the Azshara Crater, Dragon Isles, & the Emerald Dream.
Azshara Crater
Originally planned to release as a MOBA-style Battleground, unfortunately, the Azshara Crater never made it to a live version of the game. Could Blizzard bring this map back as an Epic Battleground in a future version of WoW Classic?
Zone-in location
Possible Horde starting area
Possible Alliance starting area
Unfinished area where Factions would clash?
Dragon Isles
While officially exploreable in the Dragonflight expansion, the Dragon Isles were in the original WoW game files all the way back in 2004! While this map appears to be a dev testing area, the architecture and cave systems are quite unique.
Crustacean-like architecture
Unique cave structures
Emerald Dream
While there are several hints of the Emerald Dream in the world of Vanilla Azeroth, players never actually entered this zone until much later in the Dragonflight expansion. Interestingly enough, the Emerald Dream is the only unreleased map with multiple sub-zones. Just how big was the Emerald Dream supposed to be in original WoW?
Verdant Fields
Emerald Forest
Untextured Canyon
While a little difficult to look at, given its untextured nature, this Canyon map is enormous and includes some very interesting assets.
In addition to these previously unreleased maps, there are also several test maps that the original WoW developers used to create terrain, architecture, and foliage. One of these includes a version of the Scarlet Monastery, which connects all four of the original dungeons into one mega-dungeon.
