How to Unlock Prey Hard Mode
Unlocking Prey's Hard difficulty should be a priority for most players looking for more powerful gear rewards albeit at a slightly greater challenge. Fortunately, unlocking the new difficulty is fairly straightforward, but does come with few requirements:
Reach level 90 on your first character.
Complete the introductory questline by Astalor Bloodsworn starting with Prey: Astalor's Initiative.
Once completed you should have unlocked Prey Rank 1 in Season 1's Prey journey. Return to Astalor Bloodsworn and pick up One Hero's Prey to complete a normal mode hunt. Don't worry this hunt won't use up one of your Hard mode hunts as you're able to complete 4 per difficulty.
Upon completion of the quest, return to Astalor Bloodsworn to witness the effects of Anguish in the short Practical Magic quest which will then unlock Hard difficulty. Your Prey map should now be updated with 4 Hard difficulty hunts.
Hard Difficulty Changes
Hard difficulty introduces extra affixes and require more objectives to be completed to draw out your target's location. That's all in addition to the Ambushes you may be familiar with from Normal.
