How to Summon Nightbane in Karazhan – The Burning Crusade Anniversary

The Burning Crusade is notorious for its extensive (but fun!) attunement processes. And in case you thought you were done with attunements once you unlocked The Master's Key for Karazhan itself, wrong! There is one boss, Nightbane, that has his own "attunement" to start his encounter. Below, we break down how to get this attunement process done.

Karazhan Raid Overview

Unlocking the Nightbane Quest Chain in TBC Classic

Before players can start the quest chain, they'll first need to hit Honored with The Violet Eye. Upon completing the raid attunement itself, players will see they're less than 1,000 rep away from achieving this.

To get more reputation, players will have to clear out enemies within Karazhan. Mobs inside of Karazhan grant reputation all the way through Exalted standing, with non-Elite and trivial mobs granting 3 reputation, Elite mobs granting 8-30 reputation, and bosses granting 250 reputation (except Prince Malchezaar, who grants 500 reputation).

A full Karazhan clear, including all trash mobs and all bosses, will grant approximately 9,900 reputation. At Friendly, you can complete the first ring quest, choosing the ring you will upgrade as you progress your reputation. The first quest grants 250 reputation. Once you reach Honored, Medivh's Journal questline becomes available, allowing you to start the Nightbane quest chain from Archmage Alturus, right outside Karazhan.

Players wishing to gain access to Nightbane Week 1 will have a bit to grind. They can choose to farm reputation from the basement area to the right as soon as they zone into the raid, and reset once they clear trash.

Players can continue to do this until close enough to Honored to where they can continue to clear the raid knowing they'll reach Honored before Shade of Aran. It's crucial NOT to kill Aran before starting the quest chain, as he is part of it.

Summoning Nightbane in TBC Classic

Next begins the actual quest chain. Below, you'll see a table of the chain laid out in order. For those who want to clear this week 1, plan on traveling to zones such as Netherstorm, and defeat the first boss of TWO Heroic Dungeons: Grand Warlock Nethekurse in The Shattered Halls and Darkweaver Syth in Sethekk Halls in Auchindoun. The latter is a bit of a challenge, so make sure you bring your best DPS for that encounter (and a Shaman for Bloodlust!).
