The same items vendor for considerably more currently in The War Within, compared to their post-squish states in Midnight.
Vendor prices are generally dictated by item level, which is being squished in Midnight to reduce numerical inflation throughout the game. As item levels drop, so too do the amount of stats they provide, and the resulting health/damage/healing numbers during combat. These smaller numbers make the game a little easier to parse, though should generally still work out to about the same amount of secondary stats, plus or minus some small deviations due to talent changes and formula updates.
There are still a few quirks, but you should generally have a similar amount of post-squish stats.
Because of this, gold rewards from World Quests and most other activities do not appear to have been significantly reduced... at least not yet. Likewise, the price of common items like consumables and trade goods also hasn't been affected, nor does this have any affect on player-traded items via the auction house. This means there are still a lot of ways to make gold in Midnight, but running dungeons and raids for excess gear to vendor won't be nearly as lucrative once the pre-patch begins.
World quest gold rewards do not appear to have been reduced on the PTR.
