Delves Season 1 - Best Builds, Bonuses, & Rewards
It is uniformly agreed that Porcelain Blade Tip and Mandate of Sacred Death are her best Curio options, regardless of role. These options provide the highest damage output, allowing Valeera to eliminate the threats before they can begin dealing significant damage. While Valeera's damage output is great, certain aspects of her Tanking kit are lacking.
First and foremost, as a Tank, players would expect Valeera to be able to hold threat, preferably on multiple targets. In Delves, it is unlikely to pull individual enemies, so Valeera only holding threat on one mob at a time is a huge hindrance. In addition to not holding threat on multiple enemies, Valeera's DPS role actually seems to be better at holding threat overall!
One somewhat interesting mechanic of Valeera's Tank role is the ability for non-healers to help her regenerate HP through the Cleansed Agony spell provided by Valeera's Agony. Whenever Valeera loses 25% of her health, an Agony NPC will spawn, and defeating this NPC will heal Valeera for 8% of her max health. In theory, this seems like a great way to keep your Tank up, but in reality, these Agony NPCs take way too long to kill for just an 8% heal.
In conclusion, everything that Valeera can do in her Tank role, she can do better in her DPS role. She deals more damage, which causes enemies to focus on her more, and she dies less often as well, leading to less downtime. Some ways that Blizzard could improve Valeera's role as a Tank include:
Giving Valeera an AoE Taunt, or some way to hold threat against multiple targets simultaneously.
Faster healing or more healing options for non-healing specs.
Better defensive stats or abilities, allowing Valeera to take more damage before passing out.
Patch 12.0.5 introduced players to Ritual Sites, which more or less act as Delves, but without a companion. In these Ritual Sites, Regeneration Orbs spawn while in combat, healing the player for 15% of their maximum HP when picked up. What if this feature were added to Delves as well, but instead of healing the player, walking over the Regeneration Orb would heal Tank Valeera instead? This is just one of many ways that Valeera could be improved in future Seasons of Midnight.
