Using Blueprints to Save and Share Housing Layouts in Patch 12.1

In Patch 12.1, players will be able to save and share housing layouts with the new blueprints system, though there are some limitations to be aware of.

In general, importing and exporting blueprints is very seamless, controlled through a dedicated UI button within the housing interface. From there, players can import an existing layout or save their current one, which then becomes saved within a new tab inside the Housing Dashboard for later reference. From there, switching back and forth between different layouts is as simple as a couple clicks and a loading screen.

Backups are automatically created when importing a new layout, and do not count against the 50 blueprint limit.

Faction-specific Exteriors
When it comes time to import a build, the blueprint UI will display the required interior, exterior, pet, and room budget, as well as a full list of all the decor used in that build. Missing any of the decor from that list will not prevent you from importing without those pieces, though lacking enough budget will halt the process entirely, so players are still encouraged to increase their housing level before trying to import the most grandiose builds! The game will also warn you upon trying to import a code for houses of the opposite neighborhood, since the actual house exterior is still faction-specific.

As of right now, there does not appear to be any option to import only an interior or exterior from a full import code, so it may prove helpful for creators to create separate blueprints for each, instead of just a single full build code for both. Unfortunately, this will use up more of your allotment of saved blueprints, but it will make them easier for others to use.

Remember: exterior and full blueprints are faction specific, while interiors are universal.

Blueprints Aren't Permanent
Importing this way does not add the blueprint to your housing dashboard as it is still not "your" blueprint. An automatic backup of whatever you replaced will be created, but to add this new layout to your list of 50, you'll need to save the blueprint yourself. This is because the blueprint codes do not actually contain all of the housing information, which would be far too much to contain within a short alphanumeric string: everything is saved server-side with your account and the code is a simple reference link to it.

This makes sharing them much simpler, but it also means that blueprint codes are not permanent - if the author deletes that blueprint, the code will no longer work, so be sure to save any favored layouts yourself!

This is particularly important for content creators, since there's no way to update an existing blueprint code. Any change to the layout becomes saved as a brand new blueprint, so creators should be diligent about updating all of their shared codes before deleting old ones.

Fifty blueprints is a lot, but serious creators who redesign frequently should still be wary of sharing codes they don't intend to keep!

Privacy, Please
Just like assigning permissions for visiting your house, there's also a new option to control who is able to use your builds, though it does not yet appear to be fully implemented on the PTR, as other players are still able to use your codes even without permissions enabled.

Seems not yet implemented, but should restrict players from using your builds, if desired.

It's a bit niche, since players can't access those codes unless you've decided to share them in the first place, but it appears intended to allow creators to revoke the use of their blueprints at any time, without having to go through all the trouble of deleting and resaving new codes.
