This change comes a little too late with this season, as the cap was already so high that players could've upgraded most if not all, their gear with the previous cap.

Upgrade Crests Now Uncapped in The War Within Season 1
With the weekly reset, Blizzard has removed the cap from gear upgrade crests for The War Within Season 1. This means players can farm as many crests as they desire.
