Updated: World Quests In, Rares Not So Much: Leveling with the Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch Event

Leveling a new main for Midnight? Let's crunch the numbers to see how quickly you can level in the Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch event.

Midnight Pre-Patch OverviewMidnight Pre-Patch Event Overview: Twilight Ascension

Twilight Rare event completion now gives ~35% of a level for a total of about half a level when including Ritualist and Rare kill experience. This makes rare farming a solid repeatable source of experience.

Leveling With the Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch Event
If you missed out on the leveling extravaganza that was Legion Remix, then you might be looking for the next best leveling option to pad out your roster of alts before Midnight's launch. So how does the new Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch event stack up for leveling? Let's break it down by activity.

The below numbers were obtained while using the experience buffs from Winds of Mysterious Fortune (Winds of Mysterious Fortune & Surge of Mysterious Wisdom), Warband XP Bonus (Warband Mentored Leveling maxed at 25%), and the Darkmoon Faire (WHEE!). Exact numbers will vary by level but should be relatively consistent.

World Quests
Scattered across the Twilight Highlands World Quests will be available during the event starting at level 10. Most of these are relatively straightforward requiring less than 5 minutes to complete.

Upon completion players will be granted Resonance Crystals and Twilight's Blade Insignia, and for those under level 80 a fairly lucrative amount of experience. Here's an example on a level 42 character:

The experience from a single World Quest completion accounts for 66% of a full level, not factoring in any enemy kill experience, which will vary significantly by World Quest. This seems to hold even at the 70-80 thresholds and is something we'd highly recommend doing if you're looking for a few quick levels. The only downside here is that the World Quests are finite, only refreshing biweekly.

Twilight Rares
With the latest event hotfixes, Twilight Ascension rares now spawn every 5 minutes. Whether you're defeating them all for the Two Minutes to Midnight achievement or farming them for 2-3 Twilight's Blade Insignia, players under level can earn some experience. Here's an example on a level 67 character.

The experience from a single Twilight Rare or Ritualist kill equates to ~4% of a full level or ~16% for a full event spawn (1 Rare + 3 Ritualists). You can pick up a little bit extra from killing the surrounding mobs at event start and maybe even get lucky by looting some bonus experience from the Winds of Mysterious Fortune event, but the bulk of the XP will still be from the Rare and Ritualists.

It's not a ton of experience, and we wouldn't recommend this option if your only goal is leveling. There's typically better leveling options, but if you're already farming rares for Twilight's Blade Insignia to collect all the cosmetics or to transfer for gear, then this isn't a bad added bonus. Just don't farm in a raid group, as your experience will be cut in half.
