Spark of Tides
Spark of Tides is the brand new Spark for Season 2 of Midnight. These Sparks are used to make crafted gear, and are supposed to drop 1 per week. Most crafted items take 2 Sparks, while 2-Handed weapons take 4 Sparks.
The number of Sparks that players get is important is because a 2-Handed weapon is a large upgrade for players, and depending on when players are able to get 4 Sparks will change the gearing process. All characters can get 2 Sparks this week, but the 3rd one is very likely unintended and isn't even available to all characters.
Spark #1: Weekly Quest
This weekly quest Trailing Xal'atath can be picked up in Silvermoon City next to the Great Vault from . This quest requires players to complete Delves, Dungeon, Treasures or Rares enough times to collect 100 quest items.
Once this quest is complete, players will earn their first Spark of Tides upon turning in the quest.
Spark #2: PvP Weekly Quest
The weekly quest Sparks of War: Voidstorm and Sparks of War: Naigtal can be picked up from the PvP Arena in Silvermoon City. This quest requires players to enter War Mode, and complete objectives such as World Quests, treasures. While you can kill players, you don't have to in order to complete the quest.
Completing either quest, you will earn a second Spark of Tides this week. This was expected to be the cap this week... but players have discovered a third spark.
Spark #3: Midnight World Tour
The third spark that players have gotten is from Midnight: World Tour. This is a one-time only quest that was available at the start of the expansion, meaning that any character that did it in Season 1 will no longer be able to do it again. This means that only new characters are able to get the third Spark this week. While it doesn't hit a crafting breakpoint, it's unclear how it will affect Spark Drops next week when the extra Spark would matter.
If you did the Midnight: World Tour quest already, you are not eligible to get a third Spark this week on that character.
It's very likely that this is unintended, and that Blizzard will fix it. The big question to players is how they will fix it this inequality. Will they remove the extra Sparks? Will they make no new Spark drop next week for players? There is another option, as when there was an Extra Spark exploit in War Within Season 2, Blizzard gave an extra spark to all players who did not exploit to catch up them up.
