The Venomous Abyss
Minimap Rotation
In Season 2, a new type of addon module has started to be made for boss mechanics. While addons are still banned from seeing a lot of information about a player's location, including coordinates, one thing that addons can hook onto is the minimap rotation:
MinimapCompassTexture:GetRotation()
Using this, addons can determine which way your character is facing. Once an addon determines direction, it can show players visual elements to help with positioning.
Aiming Lines - Vashnik and Ula'tek
On Mythic Vashnik and Mythic Ula'tek, players get a debuff that will fire waves down indicated paths. For Vashnik, players want to aim these at Totems on the ground, while on Ula'tek, players want to avoid hitting other players.
Due to minimap rotation, addons and modules can draw aiming lines over your UI that rotate dynamically with your character. This shows you the direction the waves are going, and with a longer guideline than the in-game provided ones.
Sszorak Radar
On Sszorak, one mechanic is to place Venomous Cysts on the correct markers so that players won't fall off during the damage amp phase. With everything going on during the encounter, it's sometimes hard to see the World Markers on the ground.
Because of this, a module was developed and is available in NSRT that shows players which marker they are currently facing. As they spin, so does the map, showing which marker they are facing at all times.
Ula'tek Intermission
During the Intermission on Mythic Ula'tek, players need to soak specific tentacle slams to survive. There are only a few patterns for the Intermission, and someone can indicate the order using a macro press. Once the addon knows the order, it can correctly assign where players should go. With the help of minimap rotation, it can show a directional arrow pointing players to their next soak, which will always point in the correct direction.
Azta'rec Delve Boss
The Memory Game on the Azta'rec Delve boss was controversial in the community, mostly due to the power of addons. During the first week of the Delve Boss, while players were eligible to earn Fabled Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec, the Azta'rec Helper Addon automatically recorded and repeated the Memory Game with no additional user input. Since players are likely facing the middle, the addon used minimap rotation to determine which quadrant the player was likely in.
This unfortunately appears to be fixed now, and manual input is required.
