WoW: Forever Roadmap
More Information:Information in this article is based on datamining the game files. WoW: Forever handles datamining and encryption differently than other versions of WoW, so please note that all of the following information is subject to change on Forever's launch. Parts of this article are speculation based on the data that was found.
During BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard revealed the 2026/2027 roadmap for WoW: Forever, which provides an overview of the next 12 months. Listed under Spring 2027, Blizzard lists "New Legendary Questline," which many players are hyped for. We don't officially know more about it yet, so many players have been speculating as to what, if anything, a new legendary might be.
We’ve now datamined many details about the potential Legendary weapon. Spoilers ahead if you want to keep reading!
Legendary Questline Datamining
Datamining has revealed some interesting information about possible steps for the Legendary questline. Most of the Legendary's data (its quests, items, spells, the Archimonde map, and the boss fight) is encrypted, so we're working from what's readable around it.
We’ve datamined that the Legendary likely has 3 stages during the questline, each with its own tracking quest. This is relevant for linking the Legendary to some spells that may otherwise be unrelated.
These findings are in no particular order. As this is datamining, this is unconfirmed and can be changed at any point.
Locations
Some locations have associated quests that indicate where some steps of the Legendary questline will likely take place.
1.60 Legendary - Moonglade - Barrow Dens - Satyr - Conversation
1.60 Legendary - Un’Goro Pylon Puzzle Solved
1.60 Legendary - Solo Encounter Completed (Tracking Quest)
1.60 Legendary - Solo Encounter Completed (Tracking Quest)
1.60 Legendary - Solo Encounter Completed (Tracking Quest) 2
From these notes, it seems like some steps of the Legendary chain will occur in Moonglade and Un’Goro, with a puzzle taking place in Un’Goro.
Solo Encounter
There is another interesting finding in the ScreenEffect database.
1.60.0 - Legendary - Solo Encounter - Archimonde - Darken Skies
We've also datamined that the solo encounter for the Legendary takes place in a zone called "Archimonde's Fall". In the original The Burning Crusade expansion, players participated in and witnessed the death of Archimonde at the World Tree at Hyjal Summit, through the Caverns of Time, and this time players might need to do it solo under a darkening sky.
This matches the above datamining and indicates that there is likely a solo encounter step, and indicates the likely enemy: Archimonde!
A Ritual
We’ve also found mentions of an Elune Ritual that are likely related to the Legendary.
These spells likely mean that this Ritual takes place after you obtain the 1st stage of the weapon and is required to get to the 2nd step.
Stormwraith
Another spell mentions charging the “Branch” with the power of Stormwraith.
What is Stormwraith? From the Everlasting Bond and Everlasting Bond spells, Stormwraith shares health with Sylvestris Dusksong, and Sylvestris Dusksong is listed as a boss in the Hyjal raid. This seems to indicate that you will need to do the Hyjal raid as part of the Legendary questline, but it is possible that there might be an alternate Stormwraith in a scenario or dungeon.
New Faction
Finally, we have Cenarion Circle (Legendary Event) a brand new Cenarion Circle faction that is named to be related to the Legendary event. This isn't a real reputation in the sense that players will grind rep; it's simply a faction that NPCs belong to.
Professions
The data indicates that Professions will play a role in the quest process, but most of the items and files related to this are encrypted. We can see that encrypted files exist, but not specifically what they are.
The portion that isn't encrypted, though, indicates that each crafting profession will create a reagent item for the quest. For example, Engineers will need to provide some type of parts, while the others aren't as specific. From what we can see regarding triggers on the quest state, it looks like six checks are attached to the quest, meaning it won't just be one or two required reagents - it would require one being contributed from all.
Conclusion
Putting it all together, what do we get? We speculate that this is a Healer-only legendary that is made from a branch of Nordrassil with 3 stages. The quest chain takes you through:
The Barrow Dens, with a Satyr in Moonglade
A Pylon Puzzle in Un’Goro
An Elune Ritual
Charging the Branch with Stormwraith’s power in Hyjal
Ending in a solo fight against Archimonde in Archimonde’s Fall
However, there is an item, NOT USED, that may indicate one particular Healer spec is being left out. Keep in mind, this is speculation at this time, and Blizzard has not confirmed or given details about any of this. However, this item doesn't mention Paladins at all, and if the Legendary is a branch of Nordrassil, that may mean it is a Dagger or Staff - which Paladins can't use. If it were a mace, Paladins might be included, but based on the speculation from that item, it's potentially not. It is also worth noting that, while an argument could be made that this is a caster DPS legendary, it then wouldn't make sense for Mages or Warlocks to be missing, despite Shadow Priest, Balance Druid, and Elemental Shaman being covered by that item. As this is datamined, it could be incorrect or subject to change, particularly since this item is clearly labeled as NOT USED.
Even though quite a bit of this is something we've been able to find, Blizzard has kept a massive amount of this data truly encrypted. They've been very clear that the intended design of Forever is to encourage social connections, exploration, and finding things out together as a community, and this still feeds into that - without any other information, the best we can do is speculate, and this information could be entirely different (or outright removed!) on launch.
