Strategy Submissions & Rules Updates
NEW: We have one change to announce regarding the general stance towards strategies that utilize "snapping" mobs. Going forward, snapping strategies will no longer be permitted for use in competition during MDI, and any team intending to utilize this mechanic must submit a VOD and detailed request prior to Tournament Play.

Additionally, find below a reminder of the general guidelines regarding other strategies that must be shared with Tournament Administration before being used in competition:
⚠️ Strategies utilizing "Mind Control" or similar abilities that control an enemy unit/grant access to enemy abilities must be submitted and approved prior to use in Tournament Play.
⚠️ Strategies utilizing items that are not directly available on the MDI Vendors in Silvermoon City must be submitted and approved prior to use in Tournament Play.
🛑 Teams are not allowed to pull mobs or bosses that are out of line-of-sight or out-of-range of a player's abilities unless the strategy has been specifically approved by a Tournament Admin.
🛑 Teams are not allowed to pull mobs or bosses that are locked beyond dungeon progression or out-of-bounds areas unless the player is able to physically get in line-of-sight and range of the mob.
🛑 Teams cannot pull bosses outside of their intended encounter area.
🛑 Teams cannot fully negate or bypass intended boss mechanics, including but not limited to the following methods:
"Safe-spotting" (such as spots where a boss has no path to the area), the use of items, abilities or other in-game systems

What is Snapping?
Snapping is a technique used in high-level Mythic+ dungeons where mobs are forced to teleport (snap) instantly to a player's location, often intended to skip certain paths or pull mobs together efficiently.

This is made possible by the mob pathing logic used in dungeons. If a mob cannot find a path to the target, it will usually eventually snap to the target's location. Historically, snaps have been used throughout an array of Mythic+ dungeons. In Midnight Season 1, the most common snap tech we've seen is in Algeth'ar Academy, where players snap the birds before Crawth with the Guardian Sentry.

Despite numerous attempts to hotfix this tech, players have continued to find new ways to pull these mobs together, originally snapping the birds to the Guardian Sentry, but after an attempted fix from Blizzard, have found that you can snap the Guardian Sentry to the birds.
