Skip Immunity Phases on Bosses In Diablo 4 Season 10

Diablo 4 Season 10 introduces a change that has long frustrated players. Boss Immunity phases can be pushed through by simply doing more damage! During this season, several changes were introduced to Lair Bosses, as well as Bartuc and Lilith, which have made the fights much more enjoyable. Gone are the days of required immunity or intermission phases, instead being replaced by shields that can be damaged through.

The changes are a little convoluted at first, but once they are encountered, it's not hard to understand. Below are the patch notes in their raw form; images will be attached below to provide further explanation. The short explanation is that after dealing 33% and 66% of a boss's health, the boss will receive a shield that lasts for 5 seconds. Breaking the shield will skip the given intermission. The second shield is larger than the first.

Invulnerability phases cannot be triggered until after 10 seconds has elapsed.

Invulnerability phases can now be bypassed if the player exceeds certain damage thresholds.

At 2/3 and 1/3 life, the boss gets a shield.

The shield lasts for 5 seconds.

When the boss is at 2/3 health, the shield's value is 1/3 the boss' max life.

When the boss is at 1/3 health, the shield's value is 2/3 the boss' max life.

If the player breaks the shield within the 5 seconds, the boss does not become invulnerable.

The screenshots below show the Boss's health, as well as the shields spawning at their given percentages. These line up with the health-orb triangles that Diablo players will be familiar with already. In addition to spawning health orbs to refill your potion, the shield will now spawn on top.

In the first image after defeating the first 33% of the boss, the shield goes to the green marker and is worth 33% of the boss's health. The other way to think about it is that the health that is missing now "reforms" as the shield.

After dealing with 66% of the boss's health, the cycle repeats. This shield will be equal to 66% of the boss's health, but last the same amount of time. As this shield is twice the size of the first shield, this is the actual damage check of Lair Bosses in Season 10 now. To properly speed-farm bosses, builds have to be able to beat this second 5-second shield, worth 66% of the boss's total health.
