A recent Reddit post highlighted how the problem of non-optimal flight paths still exists in WoW: Forever, and the question is, "Why?" One example includes this path from Thunder Bluff to Ratchet. Yes, flight paths connect, but is it not possible to make a flight skip Camp Taraujo in the Barrens and just go straight to the Crossroads instead?
Now, this one path in particular could be a bug or unintended, as when you look to fly from Thunderbluff to the Crossroads, you skip the Camp Taurajo detour that appears when you add Ratchet to the mix. So technically it would be faster to fly to the Crossroads first, land, and then fly to Ratchet, versus flying straight to Ratchet from Thunderbluff. It should also be noted that it's also more expensive to fly straight from Thunderbluff to Ratchet (2 silver 97 copper) than adding the stop first (2 silver 09 copper).
Although it's always a good laugh whenever we see these "interesting" flight paths, it's safe to say that this is one change that most players would very much welcome. Flight paths are a great source of downtime to take a short break from your activities in-game. A nice bathroom break, checking your work emails, or maybe even paying that bill that you've been neglecting for so long. But maybe we can do without these janky flight paths in WoW Forever.
"Maybe I'll just run instead..."
