Naxxramas Raid Overview Guide
Hey Maddux, first of all, a big congratulations on not only a sub 40 Naxx clear, but currently the fastest 40-man Naxxrammas clear ever! How did that record-breaking run feel?
Thanks - While beating the current record feels great, we still have a month left, so it's far from over. Our competition is fully capable of beating our current time, so our first thoughts after a run are always on what went wrong or how we can improve things.
Looking at the WCL entry, are there any PoVs you'd recommend people watch?
We have a lot of great points of view on our speed runs. Our warriors like Camelllia and Atd provide great views of our speed runs.
What spots do you really feel are the "make or break" moments of increasing your timers? How do y'all handle those moments?
There are definitely a few high-risk points in the run. In Spider Wing, we have a Paladin and a Rogue using a flask of petrification to help skip large amounts of trash mobs. If either of these guys fails their setup, the run is effectively over. Another spot that's very volatile is the Sapphiron polarity strat. This involves taking the polarity damage buff from Thaddius into Sapphiron, then killing the boss in under 20 seconds. It's very possible for a bad blizzard cast to take out a few players, which can snowball into a large time loss for Kel'Thuzad.
For people who don't speed run, can you walk us through what the preparation looks like? When do y'all start preparing for the next run, and what goes on from when 1 lockout is done to the next?
The preparation for speedrunning starts with gathering full world buffs. This go-around is much easier than back in 2019, since we have chronoboons from the start. Next, we have a pretty extensive list of consumables needed for a Naxx speedrun that we need to make sure are ready. Then, before we can actually start the run, we need to mind vision to scout certain mob types and set up some patrols to line up properly for our start.
Will Eternal continue to speed run in TBC Anniversary?
Eternal will continue speedrunning in TBC. We'll be staying at Alliance on Nightslayer.
