Two weeks ago, Blizzard announced that players would get one free transmog per character as all transmogs were removed in the Midnight Pre-Patch update. This has now been implemented, and allows each player one free swap to save an Outfit slot with a transmog of their choice.
When saving an outfit, you get the option if you want to claim the free transmog or not. If you're only changing a couple pieces of gear, and want to save your Free Transmog for a full save of an Outfit later, you can opt to use Gold now.
Blizzard has also mentioned that there is a known issue where players may experience an error message stating they don't have enough gold - but this is actively being worked on, and should be fixed soon!
This is a known issue with the fix-up to provide the free change. We’re going to hotfix that check on how much gold you have later this week.
Until then, you can work around it by moving gold from a character who has some to the character you want to use the free change on.
