No Summoning Stones & Mount Cost Changes – Kotaku Interview

In an interview with Kotaku, Blizzard explained why there are no more dungeon summoning stones and revealed that the gold costs of mounts are changing.

Kotaku Interview on WoW Forever

Kotaku had an interview with:

Tim Jones (Lead Classic Designer)

Mike Nuthals (Lead Encounter Designer)

We've summarized the interview below, but you can see the original piece on Kotaku.

Interview Summary

SoD

There's a lot of crazy stuff from SoD, such as Shaman Tanks, but it doesn't make sense in terms of simplicity or the identity of classes of Forever.

They're starting with the simplicity that's closer to the Classic game than SoD.

Raids

There is no flex raiding in Forever.

Every single tier will have at least one 10-player option and one 20-player option.

Some tiers will have a 40-player raid.

If your group is too small for the larger raids, you can still do the smaller raid(s).

They always want to make sure there is challenge and rewards in the 10-player content, and there will always be a 10-player raid.

Mounts

Effort will still be required to obtain things like your mount.

They've adjusted the gold cost to be on the training, instead of the mount.

If you see someone on a mount, it represents the amount of time and effort they have put into the game.

No Summoning Stones

Meeting Stones will not let you summon other players.

Instead, they'll open a new LFG feature which allows you to list and discover groups

You'll need to make your way across to each other if you don't have a Warlock.

They believe that downtime is important for social opportunities.

Addon Restrictions

Computational addons will be restricted.

PvP

Battlegrounds and PvP content will progress you through an Honor ranking system.

The Honor track has 14 ranks for that patch cycle, and players will get rewards and PvP armor.

There's a new Darkspear Islands battleground.

Forever

They wanted to address the feeling of investing time into something that will not be permanent.
Forever has a level 60 cap and they will be building content horizontally.
Players can level up their legacy system and level more alts.
Forever is a safe place where your time investments will matter forever.
