Line-of-Sight the Bleed on the First Boss of Skyreach

Ease the heal check on the first boss of Skyreach by preventing the Fan of Blades bleed with a simple line-of-sight trick!

Skyreach Overview Midnight Season 1 Mythic+ Rewards

Fan of Blades
Ranjit has a simple heal check throughout the fight in the form of Fan of Blades. Fan of Blades deals Physical damage to the entire party and creates a 6-second bleed that deals additional damage every two seconds. Fan of Blades occurs every 20 seconds throughout the fight.

While this mechanic isn't immediately threatening, there are tons of extra damage events throughout the fight:

Getting hit by Wind Chakram

Being targeted with Gale Surge

Getting hit by Tornadoes spawned from Chakram Vortex

Taking additional damage while Fan of Blade is going off, and you could find yourself dying before the Healer has time to react.

How to Immune Fan of Blades
Players can immune Fan of Blades using a simple line-of-sight trick. Here's how it's done:

Two gates enclose players on the platform where you fight Ranjit. The sides of these gates stick out just far enough to hide behind.

Have the Tank position the boss so that players can break line-of-sight with the boss. You will know this is possible if you hide behind the gate and cannot cast spells at the boss.

When Ranjit begins to cast Fan of Blades, step behind the gate and break line-of-sight.

After the cast finishes, step back out and continue hitting the boss.

In the video below, you can see the Hunter perform this trick and not take any damage from Fan of Blades!

Risks of this Strategy
While useful, there are a few risks of using this strategy. The most immediate one is Chakram Vortex and its troubling tornado spawns.

One of these tornadoes orbits the outer edge of the arena, where the gates are located. If you are going to line-of-sight the Fan of Blades cast, make sure no nearby tornadoes get in the way!

Depending on where the boss is positioned, Melee DPS might struggle using this strategy. Fan of Blades is a two-second cast. If the boss is positioned towards the center of the arena, you may not have enough time to hide behind the gate. If you attempt to hide and don't make it in time, you still take the bleed damage and lose out on damage since you are off the boss.

Overall, use your best judgment when deciding if it's worth to line-of-sight or not. As a backup, it is always worth saving a defensive or health potion for this bleed.
