The event was off to a rocky start, with its inclusion to Diablo 4 this late in the season coming as a surprise to many, on top of having issues claiming rewards for the first day. These issues were quickly fixed however and the event is working as intended.

Between huge amounts of gold, crafting materials, and even some extra help for getting a powerful mythic unique item, the March of the Goblins event is perfect to grind out those pesky materials everyone needs.
