Midnight Season 1 Mythic+ Rewards Windrunner Spire Overview
How Much Fire Does This Bird Have?
Emberdawn has a complicated intermission in the form of Burning Gale that interacts with mechanics throughout the fight.
Before the intermission, two players are occasionally targeted with Flaming Updraft. This places a DoT on the player for six seconds, spawning a puddle of Ignited Embers at their feet once the DoT expires. Players targeted by Flaming Updraft will want to run towards the edges of the boss arena to keep the arena clear of lava pools.
Keep the center of the arena clear of lava pools!
At the start of the intermission, Emberdawn flies to the center of the arena and begins casting Burning Gale. Multiple different mechanics happen during Burning Gale:
The party suffers damage over time for the entire intermission that the Healer needs to be ready for.
A small pushback effect is placed on the party.
The boss casts multiple Fire Breath cones, with the first frontal cone pointed at the Tank and each subsequent frontal cone rotating counterclockwise.
Previously placed Ignited Ember lava pools spawn Flaming Twisters that players must dodge.
Watch for spawning Torandos from the lava pools!
Burning Gales lasts 16 seconds, making this an extremely troublesome intermission when there are both frontal cones and tornadoes to dodge.
Emberwing Intermission Strategy
Here is a simple strategy to help alleviate the difficulty of this intermission:
A few seconds before Burning Gale starts casting, the Tank will want to position themself to bait the first Fire Breath away from other players.
Based on where the Tank is positioned, other players will want to stand to the left of the Tank. Because the Fire Breaths rotate counterclockwise, positioning yourself this way gives you the longest time before you have to dodge a Fire Breath.
Watch your feet for any stray Flaming Twisters that spawn during the intermission. These spawn from the Ignited Embers lava pools.
If needed, use a defensive, Healthstone, or Health Potion to keep yourself alive from the DoT effect.
The Fire Breath frontal cone always rotates counterclockwise.
After the first intermission, every subsequent Burning Gale occurs every 30 seconds. Once an intermission ends, be mindful of where you're positioned and be ready to drop additional Ignited Ember pools if targeted by Flaming Updraft.
