Diablo 4 Skill Tree Rework Adds More Build Diversity

Diablo 4's announcement adds a massive skill tree revamp, featuring added choices, completely new ways to play skills, and more builds to explore! The new Warlock Class might have been the biggest announcement of the 30 years of Diablo stream, but the base game is also improving with skill trees getting some large changes for every class in the game.

Diablo 4 Skills Get Added Depth
The biggest thing to be excited for is the much-needed depth that is added to each and every skill on the tree. Blizzard has already shown off examples of what a skill might look like in the new Lord of Hatred expansion, with three distinct paths coming off of each skill, presumably with two passives and one big keystone, similar to the setup that Paladin currently has. There also seems to be expanded point limits on the skills, with each skill having a maximum of 12 points, rather than 5.

These keystones have the opportunity to change every class and build in major ways, and we now also have a sneak peek at how this might look, with the video example of a Frigid Hydra! The current Hydra Build is heavily focused on Pyromancer and fire damage, but taking Frigid Hydra completely overhauls not only the skill's visuals, but also the priority to build your Sorcerer for, as it becomes a Frost skill instead.

Seemingly every skill has transformations, passive boosters, and keystone upgrades similar to Frigid Hydra, which should mean a huge surge in build diversity. Alternate playstyles and build archetypes are more easily supported, and overall the game can flourish and grow as a more sandbox-style character building, which the community has been clamoring for since the launch.
