The Running of the Trolls is an annual community organized charity event in support of the Trevor Project, a non-profit support and suicide prevention program for LGBTQIA+ youth. The event begins with a beach party at the troll starting area within the Echo Isles, proceeding into a grand multicolored pride march across Azeroth, ending with a pool party around the Silvermoon City fountain.
Like the Running of the Gnomes, the troll run was created to raise awareness and increase visibility, but is open to all players who want to show their support and join in some community fun. Even those with only a trial version of the game can participate, just make sure to create a troll character on Feathermoon or Scarlet Crusade in the US or Argent Dawn for EU, and make your way to the Echo Isles.
The run officially steps off at 6 PM PST/9 PM EST on Saturday June 27th and 6 PM CEST on June 28th in the EU, though players are welcome and encouraged to enjoy the informal Echo Isles beach bash before the event begins!
What about the Darkspear Dash?
This year is unique, as Blizzard has launched its own official in-game holiday, called the Darkspear Dash. Inspired by the Running of the Trolls, both events will run concurrently, so players will be able to complete new quests and obtain collectibles at the same time.
While the Dash will help make the event a little more vibrant, community organizers have chosen to continue the Running of the Trolls tradition and help support a noble cause. it isn't a competition - players are welcome to participate in one, the other, or both at their leisure. Remember, the community run steps off at 6 PM sharp, so get your toys ready, show up early to pick up the new quests, and enjoy the festivities!
