Veteran Classic WoW players are familiar with the best way to get Honor and increase their PvP rank: Spam Alterac Valley; it's either "Drek or Kek" or "Norf Dorf", where both factions rush to kill the opposing faction's leader as fast as possible, while capturing 2-4 towers for additional Honor. The meta for this has gotten so bad that players will intentionally lose because it's faster Honor than fighting!
"We have gone to great lengths to make sure that AV is probably a little less lucrative when it comes to Honor gains, but we have greatly increased how lucrative all of our other battlegrounds are. We want the time that you spend in Warsong, Arathi Basin, and Darkspear Islands to feel worth your time, and that it feels okay to bounce between those options."
Players recently saw a similar adjustment to the AV spam meta in The Burning Crusade Anniversary, where Honor was greatly increased in non-Alterac Valley battlegrounds, and Honor was greatly increased overall for player kills.
